This is the process of identifying the sources of potential employees and encouraging them to apply for jobs in the organization. It’s attracting potential employees to the company, OR identifying and attracting a pool of candidates, from which some will later be selected to receive employment offers. The main purpose of recruitment is to create a pool of candidates from which personnel with required skills can be selected.

Reasons for HR Recruitment.

This is not just important to the organization; it is a two-way communication process, one hand Applicants the other organizations. Applicants desire accurate information about what it would be like to work in the organization, Organizations desire accurate information about what kind of employees the applicants would make if they were hired. Here are the reasons for recruitment….


Age.

 As employees work in organizations, they advance in age up to a limit when they must retire and give way to new ones. Employees are passers-by in work organization and thus should be an event to be expected. A well-known organizational principle is that organizations are designed to live longer than their members. For this reason, organizations must continuously recruit new employees to replace ageing ones.


Employee turnover. 

Employees leave work organizations for various reasons and new ones must be recruited to take up the positions of those are leaving. Some may leave their current jobs because they are secured better jobs elsewhere. Some may leave current jobs because their spouses working for other employees have use their spouses working for other employees have been transferred to a location distant from their own. And some leave as they wish to employ themselves, etc.


Technological development. 

Development of science and technology introduce gadgets in the workplace that perform duties that were previously performed by people. Such gadgets replace human roles but also creates new human roles and thus cause organizations to recruit new people. For example, the coming of computers created roles for computer administrators, programmers, repairers, and others.


Health reasons. 

Some employees are forced to leave their work organizations due to health problems and their employers must recruit healthy employees to replace them. Included in these categories are employees who must exit their work organizations due to chronic illnesses such as severe diabetes, blood pressure, chronic cancer, HIV/AIDS etc. Also employees who are involved to sustain fatal injuries in accidents are forced to leave their workplace when it is proved they can’t continue with their current work. For example, a driver who loses one or both legs in the road accident.


Organizations restructuring. 

Restructuring of ongoing work organizations often causes organizations to right-size their work forces and one of necessary collective interventions that must be undertaken is to recruit new employee. For example, an Institution restructuring the organizations structures will give birth to new employment opportunities which didn’t exist before.
